Crystal Shards (Magical Daggers):
These are fairly common magic weapons but are still greatly desired by people all over the Palladium World. These magical daggers are constructed of solid crystal and are made by a famous Elven alchemist named Eldron. He produced several other magic items which use crystal including Crystal Heart long swords and the Staff of the Phoenix. The Crystal Shards are among his lesser items. He never was very social and for the most part kept to himself. No one knows what happened to him but no magic items from him can be verified to be younger than 200 years ago. There are rumors that he moved to the Elven Island but there has been no verifiable evidence of this. This is unfortunate because he knew many secrets in the art of making crystal weapons which appear to have been lost with time. Several other alchemists have attempted to create crystal weapons but none have been able to accomplish as much as he has with crystals. All of his creations are considered works of art, even his lesser items, and are much in demand. Unfortunately, this also makes the items often the targets of thieves.
Like the Crystal Heart swords, The Crystal Shards seem to be caved from a single crystal with the blade, hand guard, and handle showing no lines that indicate that they have been connected. No other Alchemists have been able to create weapons which do not have lines where the parts connect. The daggers come in two basic forms, one is a short slim dagger like a Stiletto and the other is heavier and is similar in the form to a Cinquedea with a wide blade. Both styles have handles with grooves carved into it which makes it easy to grip even when slick from sweat or blood.
Like most of Eldrons creations, the Crystal Shards are balanced as well as the finest daggers made by Dwarven weapon smiths and are incredibly sharp. The daggers never dulls and the incredible sharpness is partially due to the high quality construction and due to additional enchantments. The daggers are also enchanted so it they are thrown, they will return to the thrower. As might be expected, the crystal daggers are enchanted to be indestructible. Otherwise, it is likely that the weapon would shatter the first time they were used as a weapon.
