Enchanted Horseshoes (Miscellaneous Magic Items):

There are a variety of different kinds of enchanted horseshoes. Some are enchanted for battle, some are enchanted to increase the speed and endurance of steeds, while others are enchanted so a horse can ride virtually silently. Most are virtually indestructible. In some cases, only a pair is needed, while in other cases four horseshoes are required.

Horseshoes of the Ghost: Enchanted so that the horse does not make any noise with its feet although other sounds such as neighing and sounds of gear may still be heard. While not indestructible, the horseshoes are extremely tough and the horse can attack using them as if using a magic weapon (Will effect creatures not effected by normal weapons.) Four of these horseshoes must be worn to get the effects of them. Bonuses: Gives the horse a 25% bonus to prowl ability or a base 25% prowl. Cost: 60,000 gold per set of four.

Horseshoes of Mystery: These shoes are enchanted so that the horse leaves no tracks as well as moving quieter than with normal horseshoes. Other signs such as broken twigs or hair caught on branches may still exist. While not indestructible, the horseshoes are extremely tough and the horse can attack using them as if using a magic weapon (Will effect creatures not effected by normal weapons.) Four of these horseshoes must be worn to get the effects of them. Bonuses: Leaves no tracks and tracking is at -20% to find the horse. As well, the Horseshoes give a +5% to prowl skills. Cost: 60,000 gold per set of four.

Horseshoes of Speed: These shoes are enchanted to both increase the speed and endurance of the horse wearing them. They also increase the distance the mounts can leap. While not indestructible, the horseshoes are extremely tough and the horse can attack using them as if using a magic weapon (Will effect creatures not effected by normal weapons.) Four of these horseshoes must be worn to get the effects of them. Bonuses: Enchanted horseshoes allow the horse to run 50% faster than normal, exert itself for twice as long as normal, and leap twelve feet (four meters) higher and further. Cost: 80,000 gold per set of four

Horseshoes of Thunder: These shoes are meant for battle like few other horseshoes are. Whenever they strike anything, they produce a thunderclap. This includes while the horse is running and while in combat. Of course this means that the steed cannot move silently in the least although the thunder can sometimes cause fear in opponents. The Horseshoes are indestructible and usually only the front feet are equipped with these shoes. Often the horseshoes are decorated with thunderbolt designs. Bonuses: Gives +3D6 damage when striking an opponent. Cost: 136,000 gold per pair

Horseshoes of the Waves: These shoes allow a horse to literally walk on the water. The horse clad in these shoes is limited to normal walking speed, cannot gallop, or the horse will be plunged into the water. If that happens, the horse cannot get back on its feet above the water and must swim or drown. Otherwise, the enchantment has an unlimited duration. Like most enchanted horse shoes, these shoes are extremely durable. The horse can attack using them as if using a magic weapon (Will effect creatures not effected by normal weapons.) Four of these horseshoes must be worn to get the effects of them. Bonuses: Allows horse to walk over water at normal speed although cannot move faster over water. Cost: 100,000 gold per set of four.

Winged Horseshoes: On the sides of the horseshoes are the designs of wings. These horseshoes allow the steed to fly and the horse does not get spooked while flying. While flying, the horse does not time and can fly up to 50 miles per hour. Duration is 60 minutes and can be activated up to twice per day. While not indestructible, the horseshoes are extremely tough and the horse can attack using them as if using a magic weapon (Will effect creatures not effected by normal weapons.) Four of these horseshoes must be worn to get the effects of them. Bonuses: Horse can fly up to 50 mph (80 kph) for one hour twice per day. Horse also gets +1 to dodge and +2 to damage on a diving attack. Cost: 240,000 gold per set of four.
