Remington Model 870 Shotgun [Shotgun]:

Pump action shotgun manufactured by the Remington company and is one of the shotguns that people most commonly think about when people thgink of a pump action shotgun. The shotgun is available with a number of different barrel lengths and is available in a number of different calibers. The shotgun is available in 12, 20, 280, and .410 Gauges. Civilian models of the shotgun are available with an 18, 20, 21, 23, 26, 28, and 30 inch barrels. Weapon is available with choke tubes or a rifle barrel. Berrels may be swapped within a few minutes for different situations. A scope can be fitted to the rifle. The shotgun is available with wood stocks or with synthetic stocks. Models are available in matte, camouflage, or nickel finish. There is a special marine model with nickel finish. Most models have a four to six shot magazine but have a special plug for three shots for restriction on number of rounds usable for hunting. The magazine is mounted under the barrel in a tube maagazine.

There are several Military or Law Enforcement versions of the shotgun. Most military and law enforcement use an extended eight round magazine. The most common law enforcement barrels are 14 and 18 inch. As well, most are 12 gauge. One special version is similar to the Knight Masterkey shotgun and mounts under a rifle barrel. Others include a short 9.2 inch barrel version of the shotgun. It was first introduced for the Witness Protection Program and is used by a variety of different law enforcement agencies. It uses a pistol type handgrip and is easy to conceal. Non Law Enforcement shotguns are for the most part limited to barrels of 18 inches or longer.
