The Beast (Death Rally Car):

The Death Rally is a contest between sports cars with weapons and armor added to make the race far more lethal. Few of the cars that start the Death Rally usually finish the rally. An extremely dangerous sports, many drivers have been killed during these rallies.

An old converted 1974 Chevy Nova SS, the Beast is the current champion in the Death Rally and is driven by a female driver named Danica Glenn with her copilot Christy Willis. There are only a few female teams in the Death Rally and they are favorites in the races. Danica and her copilot quite attractive, which makes her even more of a crowd favorite. A nickname of "Beauties and the Beast" is used by many fans. Even so, she is an incredible driver. Like many drivers and copilots, both of their backgrounds are a mystery with various stories told about them including that they are lovers.

In the latest race, the Beast beat out the Reaper, which had previous been the winner of more Death Rallies than any other car. The Reaper won four Death Rallies and had taken out over two dozen other cars over the course of its career. In comparison, the Beast had not even finished either of the two previous rallies and has only taken out two other cars on the track. Rumor is that the driver of the Reaper plans to be out for blood in the next race.

A variety of different weapons are mounted on the cars of the Death Rally. The Beast is armed with a pair of forward firing M-134 7.62 mm Mini Guns compared with a single .50 heavy machine gun on the Reaper. The six barrel Gatling machine guns are loaded with Wellington Ammunition and a total of two thousand rounds of ammunition are carried on either side of the engines above the wheel wells. On the roof of the Beast are four mini-missiles. For defensive weaponry, the Beast carries a rear firing plasma flame thrower and a also the ability to release smoke. Rear weapons are generally operated by the copilot while forward weapons are fired by the driver with controls on the steering wheel.

The original Chevy V-8 engine is retained but is souped up to compensate for the additional armor. Suspension is also strengthened to support the additional armor. Top speed is estimated to be around one hundred and twenty miles per hour although this can be rarely reach on the track. Many of the cars in the Death Rallies carry far heavier armor, giving the Beast one of the highest top speeds of cars in the rally. This can be considered a double edged sword due to it being unable to take as much damage as many other cars.

The added armor appears to scrap composite and alloy materials and gives the car an extremely rough appearance. The tires are replaced by hard rubber tires. Each wheel well is partially protected to make tires hard to hit. In each rally, the Beast was almost wrecked and the car had to be extensively rebuilt. Even in the latest rally, the Beast was extensively damaged and is currently being rebuilt.

M-134 7.62 mm Mini Guns (2, Front Fenders):20 each
Mini-Missile Launchers (4, Roof)5 each
WI-FT Plasma Flamethrower (Rear Firing)10
Crew Compartment40
[2] Main Body:75

Notes:
[1] These are small and difficult targets to strike, requiring the attacker to make a “called shot,” but even then the attacker is -4 to strike.
[2] Depleting the M.D.C. of the main body will shut the unit down completely, making it useless.

Speed:
Ground: Top speed on roads of 120 mph (193.1 kph) with a normal cruise speed of 60 mph (96.6 kph.) The car is not really designed for off road travel, top speed is 25 mph (40.2 kph)
Maximum Range: 250 miles (402.3 kg)

Statistical Data:
Height: 4.38 feet (1.33 meters) not including mini-missiles
Width: 6.03 feet (1.84 meters)
Length: 16.39 feet (5.00 meters)
Weight: 3,850 lbs (1,746.3 kilograms)
Power Source: Turbo-Fire V8 valve-in-head Engine, Internal Combustion.
Cargo Capacity: Minimal, trunk space is eliminated for the plasma flamethrower
Black Market Cost: Not For Sale. Would cost around 100,000 Credits to build

Weapon Systems:

  1. M-134 7.62 mm Mini-Guns (2, Front Fenders - Forward Firing): The Beast has a pair of Mini Guns mounted on the fenders with ammunition stored inside the fenders over the wheel well. Firing forward, these guns are controlled by the driver with controls on the steering wheel. Gatling type machine guns, these machine guns fire extremely rapidly to inflict greater damage. Machine Guns uses WI-10 Ramjet rounds to increase the weapons damage.
Maximum Effective Range: 2,000 feet (609.6 meters)
Mega Damage: One round does 1 M.D.C. to M.D.C. targets or 3D6x10 S.D.C. to soft targets. Twenty round bursts inflicts 2D4 M.D.C. and forty round bursts inflict 4d4 M.D.C. Both Machine Guns firing together inflict 8D4 M.D.C. for an eighty round burst.
Rate of Fire: Equal to combined hand to hand attacks of driver
Payload: Carried 2,000 rounds (50 Bursts) for each Mini-Gun for 4,000 rounds total.
  2. WI-NFT-1 Napalm P Plasma Flamethrower (Rear Firing): Mounted in the trunk of the Beast and is rear firing. Modified so that only short bursts can be fired. This weapon fires a stream of liquid which when activated "burns" for a short period of time (1D4 minutes) and inflicts damage during that duration. This is not a conventional plasma weapon that heats materials to the point beyond gas and has some interesting properties. Plasma flamethrower is generally controlled by the copilot although can be controlled by the driver if needed.
Maximum Effective Range: 500 feet (152.4 meters)
Mega-Damage: A short plasma burst inflicts 3D6 M.D. As an additional option, the plasma weapon can be used to cover a wide area. Up to an area of 10 ft radius can be effected per melee attack. All targets within the area of effect will take 2D6 M.D. and will continue to receive 2D6 M.D. of damage per melee for a period of 1D4 minutes. The plasma fire cannot be extinguished with water, instead sand or special chemicals designed to fight metal fires must be used.
Rate of Fire: Equal to number of combined hand to hand attacks (usually 4-6) of the copilot.
Payload: The car has a Napalm-P tank which gives the weapon 100 “shots”
  3. Mini-Missile Launchers (4, Roof): Mounted on roof of the car are four mini-missile launchers. These launchers can fire only a single mini missile at a time. Still, a single mini missile hit can often take out another car. Usually armor piercing missiles are used. Mini-missile launchers are controlled by the driver.
Maximum Effective Range: Varies with mini-missile type; Usually armor piercing or fragmentation are carried (Go to revised bomb and missile tables for details.)
Mega Damage: Varies with mini-missile type; Usually armor piercing or fragmentation are carried (See revised bomb and missile tables for details.)
Rate of Fire: One (1) mini-missile at a time only.
Payload: Each launcher carries one mini-missiles for a total of four Mini-missiles.
  4. Smoke Generator: Also mounted in the trunk, the smoke generator created a thick cloud of smoke that cover an 80 feet (24 meters) behind the car. Special mix is added to the Beast's exhaust to create the smoke screen.
