Disposition:
She is a rarity among vampires, a vampire who was able to keep a sense of honor when she became a vampire. There are many unresolved problems in her life such as what her status is after being severed from her catholic faith but she still believes that suicide is an unforgivable sin. As such, her life (or un-life) is very unresolved. She does see herself as a cancer on the human race but believes that she should act to prevent other cancers from destroying. She has an especial hatred for wild vampires. To those who can consider her to be their friend, she can still be approachable but she has become much harder since becoming a vampire. Her only love is for the worker who once worked at her fathers farm and hacienda. She wanted many children and has latched onto the children of the farmers as a partial compensation and treats them like gold. Even though she has many unresolved questions, she lives quite comfortably at her hacienda and acts as a night time guardian for the household with the vampires protecting her during the day.
When she was able to regain a sense of self after become a vampire and killing her father, she made several resolutions. One of those was to never take blood from unwilling victims. She does not consider an enemy which she has had to fight to be an unwilling victim though. She has learned the art of seduction to make the giving of blood a pleasure. She tried animal blood when she just went over but found that it would not keep her alive. The others were that she would never create a human servant or another vampire. She considers creating another vampire to be creating yet another cancer on the human race. As well, while her father turned her into a secondary vampire, several of her brothers became wild vampires and she had to kill them.
Unlike many vampires, she sees no problem in using high tech equipment and magic items. She has fought several opponents who were equipped to fight vampires and has found that the equipment will save her life in combat. She prefers light body armor so that she can transform into mist to escape and her magic swords are far more effective than her punches would be by themselves. She also does not like sleeping in coffins, considering them to be too confining. She has a large room which was tunneled out under her hacienda which she prefers to sleep in. While on the road, she may be forced to sleep in a confined box but she does not particulary like it. She loves riding horses but has only found a few which her vampire presence does not frighten. One of her favorites is a black stallion which only she seems to be able to ride.

Appearance:
Maria is about of average height for a woman being around five foot six although is fairly muscular in build. Still, she is quite feminine in appearance. Her hips are fairly slender and she has moderate sized breasts with her being far from being flat chested. Her features show her Spanish heritage quite clearly although he skin is extremely pale. She highlights her appearance with bright crimson lip highlights and likes to brighten her cheeks as well with a bit of reddish blush as well. Under sculpted eyebrows, she wears dark eye highlights which accentuates her extremely dark eyes which some might call black. Finally, her hair is ebony with blue highlights. She wears her hair down to the top of her legs with her hair being extremely curly.
In dress, she is a bit of an exhibitionist, liking to wear skin tight clothing to show off her figure. She likes to wear black leather with a gloss shine to it or similar latex outfits. Her favorite outfit is a black gloss one piece outfit which ends just above her breasts and reveals deep cleavage. She also normally wears extremely high stiletto heels boots with her outfit which make her appear several inches taller and slimmer. Before becoming a vampire, she preferred gowns, dresses, and skirts and will still wear them occasionally.

Neural Whip - Similar in operation to a neural mace but may be used to entangle as well attempt to stun an opponent (1D8 S.D.C. damage and unconsciousness, -8 to Strike, Parry and Dodge for 2D4 Melees if save is made - Save 16 or Higher, does not work through environmental body armor) Whip length is 10 feet (3.1 meters.)

Maria's History (In her own words):
My name is Maria. I was born of my family hacienda near the border of what once was the great nation of Mexico and the American Empire. I was born into a large family although I know of larger families. I had five older brothers with the oldest being virtually an adult when I was born. I was the only girl in the family. I do not know what happened exactly but my mother died when I was two or three and have no memories of her. Still, the workers at the farm helped my father raise us and our childhood was as normal as is anyone's childhood. The hacienda was as much a fortress as a farm and was as safe as anywhere near vampire and monster infested lands. I remember several attacks of vampires against the farm while a child but each one was repelled.
The best term for me as a child would have been that of a tomboy. I remember watching old pre-rifts movies including those of Zorro and took up learning how to fight with the sword. I also loved riding and was often on horseback. I have been shown pictures of myself when I was a child and in several I had mud in tangled hair along with being in ripped jeans which were mud splattered as well. I guess that eventually, I grew interested in boys and boys became interested in me. I began to prefer dresses and skirts over muddy jeans and learned from several women in the hacienda how to use makeup. While I did still enjoy riding, I grew to love dancing as well. My father made sure that all of his children could defend themselves and I was taught how to use both a rifle and a pistol. Still, one might say that I was mad for marriage and had several love affairs while still a teenager. I always wanted to start a family of my own although I had yet to find the right man for my father before it happened.
I use the term "It" for becoming a vampire. I don't know how else to describe the horrible event. Some use the term "Brought Over"or "Crossing Over." I consider it dying and becoming a monster. My father left to one of the major cities for some trading and came back as a monster. The proper term is secondary vampire, the same as I am. We did not know any better when he returned although something did look different about him. I have been told that often a vampire will want to turn his whole family into vampires as well, thinking they are sharing immortality. We are not immortal, someone will eventually kill me and I don't know what the internal destination of my soul will be. Crosses burn when I touch them, that is not suppose to happen to daughters of the blessed virgin. I was lucky because when I crossed over, I became a secondary vampire like my father but several of my brothers become wild vampires. I had to fight and kill my father. The less I have to say about that, the better. I also had to hunt down several of my brothers who had become wild vampires and when it was all done, my whole family was gone.
I was amazed that the other families in the hacienda still would support me. They probably should have staked me along with the rest of the family. I made a promise that I would never create another vampire or a mind controlled victim. I tried to drink the blood of animals but just found that they gave no sustenance or very little. The hacienda came to my rescue and provided enough blood to sustain me. There are about twenty adults in the farm and if one gives a pint each day, that is enough to sustain me. In return, I protected them at night except when I am off traveling. Occasionally, I will travel to a nearby town with a bar and engage the company of a gentleman for the day and feed from them to give the people of my hacienda a break. Being a vampire is an open secret in many of the outlying towns and others farms.
If I had remained a mortal woman, I likely would have had a family by now and would have left my hacienda. I likely would have never adventured anywhere. Instead, I periodically go traveling. The ability to encounter bandits gives me a chance to stock up on blood and there are often opportunities to gather fresh blood in cities as well. Many vampires disdain from the use of body armor or modern equipment but I think the attitude is stupid. A shotgun filled with silver buckshot will ruin any vampires day. Body armor protects against that and that weapon can be highly effective against other vampires as well as were creatures. The introduction of the pump pistol in the Coalition to the North and the weapon which uses the same cartridge but is an automatic were wonderful introductions. I have visited the Pecos Empire several times and in one encountered a strange group which some have told me come from a place called "Atlantis." I was with several other adventures although I was the only vampire and we fought the strange creatures including some blind psychic female warriors. In the battle, I was able to get two magic swords along with a magical amulet which forms a set of magical body armor around you. I trained with the two weapons so that I was expert. Sword skill, especially with two swords, is extremely rare with vampires and gives me an advantage when I ended up fighting other vampires. I also traded some of the loot from the encounter in the Pecos Empire for a magic amulet of protection. I likely got robbed with the cost of the item but it is extremely useful.
