Disposition:
Even when he alive, he was incredibly narcissistic. The only being he ever cared about was himself and his own pleasures. His pleasures are also extremely particular and he enjoys hurting and killing others. Fear in others is one of the things which he enjoys most. An expert torturer, he can be considered both a serial murderer and rapist. He may very well keep someone as a prisoner, female or male, for a long period and then simply kill them, usually through the most horrific way he can, when he tires of them. The reason why he dresses the way he does it to produce more fear.
There is no honor with him and will betray anyone at any time. To be an ally of him is simply a case where he has not killed them yet. This includes his parents, many teammates when he was a mercenary, those who have hired him, and even the necromancer who created him. If he thought he could do so successfully, he would betray Death himself. He does not steal but only because he finds it simply easier to murder the person and take all they have.
Seeing other juicers fight while a mercenary, he knew he could not do what they did and decided he wanted to be one as well. He cannot stand being weaker thana nyone else and wanted to be better than anyone else. With his ego, it is quite possible that he did not think that the effects of the drug would ever kill him, believing himself to be immortal. As such, he never would have
His sense of revenge has no sense of bounds. If someone wrongs him, he will go to any lengths to get revenge. Revenge to him is causing the most pain possible before killing them. One of the objectives of his revenge is the lawman who arrested him. This revenge is also transferred on all lawman and bounty hunters. As well, Cyber-Knights, because they also helped in his capture, are a target of his hatred and revenge. The cause of much of his hatred is fear. If anyone actually makes him afraid of them, that is who he will strike the hardest back at.

Super Reflexes: +4 to Roll with punch, fall, or impact; +4 on initiative; Gets an automatic parry or dodge on all attacks, even from behind/surprise; Add two attacks per melee.
Saving Throw Bonuses: +4 (+6) save vs psionics, +6 save vs mind control (chemical or psionic), +8 save vs toxic gasses, poison, and other drugs [If they effect him.] System will also slow down to reduce the effects of drugs, can inject chemicals to counteract drugs, and can enter a trance state to reduce oxygen.
Murder Wraith Powers / Weaknesses:
Supernatural Attributes: Strength and Endurance are supernatural
Invulnerability: With the exception of silver and magic weapons as well as magic, the creature takes no damage. Includes M.D. energy weapons and plasma bolts. Powerful explosions and M.D. attacks may knock the undead to the ground, but they suffer no damage.
Silver Weapons inflict full damage. M.D. magic and magic weapons also do full damage. As well, hand to hand attacks from supernatural beings inflict hit point damage equivalents to their M.D. damage. S.D.C. magical attacks do half damage. Holy weapons and other attacks that inflict extra damage to vampires do double damage (or the damage bonus against vampires/undead, whichever is higher).
Regeneration: Regenerate damage at the rate of 3D6 hit points at the end of each melee. The only way to destroy it is to reduce it to negative 10 hit points, at which point the monster will crumble into dust and cease to exist.
Energy Vampirism and Cannibalism: The creatures need both P.P.E. energy and the flesh of sentient (thinking) beings to survive. P.P.E. is absorbed when touching the victim and is suffering pain. Each round they are in pain, the monster will drain 1D6 P.P.E., up to the victim's total available reserve. See writeup for more details. They need at least 10 P.P.E. and one pound of flesh a week to survive. They can "store" up to ten weeks of energy and flesh by consuming those amounts in the space of a day. If they miss either the flesh or the energy, their own pool is reduced by one point for every day without sustenance. If P.P.E. is exhausted through starvation, they dissolve in a pile of goo and cease to exist.
Sunlight: Sunlight is painful / debilitating, but not lethal: Loses one attack per round and -2 points on all combat bonuses if they fight even if partially protected from sunlight. If forced to fight in full sunlight, initiative is completely lost, and all attacks and bonuses are halved.
Saving Throw Bonuses: In addition to all Juicer bonuses, Murder-Wraiths are +2 to save versus magic and psionics, and +10 to save vs horror factor.

Appearance:
Once he was not a bad looking man. Now, he is incredibly scary looking and it is hard to say if he is more scary with his face covered or not covered. Without the covering, his skin has shrunken against his skull and has darkened with consistency of leather. The cheekbones push through the flesh along the flesh no longer covering the nasal bone. As well, lips have peeled back and broken teeth revealed giving it an even more skull like appearance. A few stray lank grey hairs are on the top of the skull and his eyes are shrunken into their sockets. His body is similarly shrunk with the bones in his ribs, neck, wrist, arm, and leg bones breaking through the skin in places. The harness is shrunk into his skin and has become part of him. In some places, it drips noxious black liquid.
He dresses generally with a hood covering his face although it is open at the mouth to reveal broken teeth and parts of his jaws. The hood is made from brown burlap. Over the top he wears a dark brown leather cowboy hat. Around his neck he wears the hangman's noose which he believes was used to attempt to hang him. Over his chest, he does not generally wear a shirt and his shrunken chest with bones visible. He does wear an long armed coat. Leather pants and a leather set of boots complete the outfit. On his hips, he wears a pair of pistols on gun belts and carries a pair of swords as well.

The Hanged Man's Background:


Peter Greysmark was born the child of farmers in a small Midwestern Town which is said to have existed even before the coming of the Rifts. He always hated those around him, including his parents and also started out torturing small animals from an early age.


Eventually, he graduated towards people. Around town, youths began disappearing and often a body would be found a week or two later, usually mutilated. His parents found out about what he was doing but they simply became his victim. He milked sympathy for their death for a while but eventually the town's suspicion fell on him.


It was time to get away while he could. The boy, who was sixteen by this time, joined the first of several mercenary companies always choosing those with brutal reputation. Even so, it was not long before his love of death and torture was too much for the company. This happened not once but several times. Often, he created fear even with those who hired them and in several cases he killed other members of the company which he worked with. Rape charges followed him and several bounty hunters were always after him. Somehow, he managed to always escape with his skin intact.


In his time as a mercenary, he met Juicers several times and he could not help but be impressed by their abilities. Not believing that they only lived a few years, even though warned about it, he joined a mercenary company who would make him a juicer. The situation was similar with the companies he was with in the past with him both terrorizing those who hired his company and getting into fights with other juicers and killing them. As a result, he soon made himself unwelcome with them as well


It had gotten to the point where effectively no mercenary company really wanted him. He decided to strike out on his own and become an assassin. It suited his personality quite well but again, he enjoyed it just too much. As well, he often killed many who he did not have to and also would often kill the person who hired him. Again, he is known to have raped many women and men.


Somewhere along the line, he had an enemy which was too much for him. A female lawman who is said to have been around since before the coming of the Rifts. There are tales of her having been a "Texas Ranger." She was able to capture and arrest him. Several knights were known to have helped her track him down, something they would pay for later.


He found himself on the gallows and the trap door opened. Unfortunately, he survived and escaped. It was then that he swore revenge against her and all lawman, knights, and bounty hunters. Sometime around this time, he finally could feel his body starting to slow down and actually feeling himself slowly dying. Likely he only had about a year to live. Finally realizing his mortality, he started flailing for a solution.


He could have chosen to detox but that would have made him a weakling. Instead, he found another solution in the form of the promises of the Grim Reaper cult. They are mostly composed of necromancers and other extremely evil beings. Unlike the mercenary companies which he had served with, they had no care of his wanton murder, torture, rape, and love of carnage. In fact, virtually all of them shared the same pleasures and goals as him. They could actually teach him a few things.


They replaced the standard drugs of his harness with noxious potions and creations of dark alchemy. It did not happen all at once but slowly as they prepared him for become a Murder Wraith. His soul was already completely corrupt and he only descended deeper and deeper into darkness.


After about a year, he was brought across as a Murder Wraith. Even though he gloried in his new found power, he immediately chaffed under the control that the necromancers put him under. For a while he was under their control but constantly fought against it. Just a few moments, he was able to break the control. Seizing the opportunity, he killed the necromancer. He took several items from the necromancer for his own use including a pair of powerful magic blades reported to be from Atlantis.


Freedom was his and a chance to get revenge on all those he feel slighted by. The first place he went after was the village which had tried to hang him. Virtually invulnerable, he killed everybody in the town whether they were responsible for his hanging or not. He repeatedly asked them,"Do you know who I am." Of course as a Murder Wraith, he was virtually unrecognizable. Afterwards, he burned everything to the ground. He took the noose which he was hung with and decided to wear it. At the same time, he took on an almost Old West motive. It was also then that he started calling himself "The Hanged Man."


The next target along the way was the town which he lived as a child and teenager. Along the way, he murdered several lawmen and other heroes. A fight with a cyber knight, an older and extremely skilled knight, came close to stopping him but in the end the Murder Wraith killed the knight. Like the town which he was hung, he killed all living things in the town. He took a bit more time and tortured many before he was done including children. Then, like the first town, he made sure that everything was burned to the ground.


So far, he has not managed to catch back up with the female lawman who captured him. To be honest, she is one of the few beings which he is afraid of even as a murder wraith.
