Techno-Wizard Black Light Blade:

The Spell "Light Blade" makes an extremely effective magic sword and techno-wizards created a weapon which takes advantage of the spell. The sword can be considered a more powerful cousin to the Techno-Wizard Flaming Sword although has a shorter duration and requires more magical or psychic energy each time it is activated. The handle is extremely compact without the blade, making it able to be concealed or carried on a belt like a flashlight.

Unfortunately, the sword has its weaknesses including by those who consider stealth to be at a premium. The blade of the sword when activated is an extremely bright white and is anywhere from two and a half feet long to over four feet long. Because of the extreme effectiveness of the blade, a techno-wizard thief looked for a solution to the problem. Instead of trying to create a new spell, she decide to simply change the effect of the blade.

This was simple to cloak the blade in darkness. Instead of the blade glowing, the blade seems to absorb light. Some consider the appearance of the blade to be almost evil while others consider the effects of the spell to be simply practical. Since she invented the magic sword, several other techno-wizards have copied the magic sword and make their own versions. It has become popular with blackguards in some areas as well and some Cyber-Knights treat anyone with this weapon with caution.

In most ways, the blade is identical in effects to a standard "Light Blade" sword although it does not inflict double damage against vampires and creatures vulnerable to light. The blade is basically the spell 'Light Blade' from an object instead of a spell casters hand and has all the bonuses and penalties with the spell. If the weapon is created by a low level techno-wizard (first through third level), the weapon's blade will be about the length of a short sword (2.5 feet / 0.8 meters) and be about as wide as a rapier (1 inch / 2.5 cm.) A mid level techno-wizard (fourth through ninth level) will make a weapon that resembles a bastard sword (3.75 feet long and 2.5 inches wide / 1.1 meters long and 6.4 cm wide.) A high level techno-wizard will create a weapon that is the length of a two handed sword (4.25 feet long / 1.3 meters) and have a blade about four inches (10 cm) wide. In all cases, the weapon's blade is weightless and easy to handle.

The weapon in its simplest form is a simple metal or wooden handle with a wide opening at one end with a large diamond imbedded inside. This is where the energy blade appears when the techno-wizard weapon is activated. Others are highly decorated in a wide variety of different styles.
