Shadow Fire (Robot Horse):


Experimental horse robot that has the intelligence of a horse transferred to it (The intelligence was in storage since the coming of the Rifts). A knight named Megan Smith found the intelligence in a secret storage facilities while adventuring and could not figure out what it was. All She could tell was that it was an extremely advanced computer system. She later discovered from a techno-wizard that it had the essence of a horse transferred into it. It may have been some sort of pre-Rifts experiment which was not followed up on. She commissioned an operator to make a realistic body for the steed.


The body of the horse appears to be a real horse unless closely examined. It is very animated with the ears moving and can make complex expressions. It is likely that Shadow Fire does not know that it is not a normal horse. The steed appears to be a large warhorse with a silvery grey hide and a magnificent mane and tail. The hooves of the steed appear silvery as well although not an unnatural silver color. The eyes of the stead are a bright blue which match closely Megan Smith’s eyes. Megan Smith also has light body armor / barding for the horse to wear in combat. The barding is white and matches her armor although is not magical.


For some reason, Megan Smith fell in love with the robot steed and it is her favorite mount even when compared to having had the chance to ride Pegasus and other fantastic creatures. Shadow Fire is very intelligent and has the ability to learn very well. It likes to play although Megan has had to train it to be extremely careful. The steed is incredibly fast and can ride at speeds of up to 160 miles per hour and has an incredible ability to jump. The horse does not carry many weapons. The only exception are special particle beam eyes.

[2] Destruction of the main body will completely disable the horse although central brain system may still intact.

Speed:

Running: 164 mph (263 kph) maximum. Running does NOT tire out the robot and maximum speed can be maintained virtually indefinitely.

Leaping: Powerful robot legs can leap 40 feet (12.2 meters) up or 50 feet (15.2 meters) across with just a few strides. Can leap up to 80 feet (24.4 meters) with a running start.

Flying: Impossible.

Range: Effectively unlimited.

Underwater Capacity: The robot can function in/under water, able to walk along the bottom of a body of water at 25% of its normal running speed, or swim at a maximum speed of 3 mph (4.8 km or 2.6 knots). Maximum Depth is 500 ft (152.4 m).

Weight: 2,000 lbs (309 kg).

Physical Strength & Statistics: Equal to a P.S. 40, P.P. 26, P.B. 21, and S.P.D. of 240.

Power System: Nuclear, average life is 10 years.

Cargo: Has two (2) large secret compartment in the main body. Can carry in addition one rider and one companion (if both are human sized otherwise space will be tight and will always be uncomfortable for long periods), up to 2000 lbs (900 kg) can be carried although space may make some items impossible to carry. The robot horse can pull 8 tons (7.26 metric tons.)

Black Market Cost: Not sold on the black market, market value is around 17.8 million credits.

  2. Hand to Hand Combat: Also can engage in hand to hand combat. Has three (3) attacks per melee round.

    Bonuses: Includes sensors and natural abilities, +10 to Strike, +10 to Dodge, +7 to initiative, +4 vs Horror factor.
