Disposition:
Gryphon is virtually as different from the stereotype of an Ogre as possible. He is good hearted and honorable. He will do what he can to help others he comes across and gives opponents mercy in battle. He is also very disciplined and able to work with others unlike most ogres. His only real weakness is that sometimes his strong will gets the better of him and he can be very stubborn. While not quite a hatred, he has an extreme dislike and distrust for other ogres. He considers himself "half" Ogre not a full blooded Ogre. He knows about how ogres often kidnap human women and considers it extremely barbaric. It is interesting that due to being raised among humans, he considers human women attractive but does not like Ogre women. He considers being a Paladin and to serve others to be a way of atoning for his own birth. While he wishes there was a way that he could reduce the fear which others show towards him, he does not particulary hold it against others.
He serves the Pantheon of the Dragonwright and is especially devoted to Kormath and Zandragal. Kormath due to his good and Zandragal due to being a warrior.

Gryphon's History:
There are many villages and towns bordering the lands which were one the Old Kingdom with some of them being under no government. One of those is known as Laysford and is located of the eastern edge of the monster held lands of the Old Kingdom. The town was fairly prosperous and was the home of a young woman named Lydia. The young woman was the daughter of the mayor and had been pampered a bit all of her life. She was kidnaped by Ogres for breeding stock. Ogre females are often infertile and kidnap human women and keep them prisoner. Also residing in the town was an old Paladin named Sir Cytrus. He has not quite as fast as he once was but was still extremely skilled. The father of the young girl persuaded the Paladin persuaded the old Paladin to go after his daughter. The father offered huge sums of money but all the old man wanted was a favor.
The old Paladin was able to rescue the young woman, as well several other captive human girls who had been kidnaped by the Ogres. Soon after she was brought back to her father, it was found that she was pregnant from the Ogre which had kidnaped her. It was when the ogre child was born that the Paladin asked for his favor. He asked for the child to raise as his own. The old Paladin's wife had died a few years previously and they had no children own their own. One miscarriage had almost killed his wife when they had first married and they decided not to try and have any more children. The Mayor had expected that the old man would want help when he was low on food or with building a larger temple to the Church of Dragonwright and the request was unexpected. Still, his daughter was still grief stricken and did not want the child. Her father decided to give the old Paladin the infant child.
Sir Cytrus named the young half ogre child 'Gryphon' and raised his as his own. The ogre child was given an education by his adopted father in read and writing as well as in the ability to fight. To a large extent, the child, who was growing extremely fast, was shunned by both adults and children in the town. His only real friend was his adopted father but the old man explained from an early age why others felt the way that they did. As time went on, some of the townsfolk grew to at least tolerate the Ogre boy. He decided to become a Paladin like his adopted father and began extensive training. He was trained on riding a warhorse but soon grew too heavy. Since then, he has looked for a large enough mount to carry him but has had no luck.
When he grew to be an adult, he decided that it was time to leave the small town of Layford. He has gotten into his share of trouble during his travels. He has also rescued several towns and villages from warlords and other monsters. He has managed to make a few friends in his travels as well. He was given his holy battleaxe by Kormath himself for defeating a summoner and his demon forces. Kormath simply appeared and asked for his ask. Gryphon gave the dragon god his axe and Kormath handed the axe back to him. The weapon had been transformed and had become a holy weapon.
