Delphine was raised on stories from her mother and much of what she considers important, she got from these stories. Many of the stories were slanted to the Elven point of view including stories about the Dwarf and Elf War. Due to this, she has a distrust for Dwarves although has no active hatred for them. She will tend to watch them very carefully and tends to be a bit more reactionary than she might be with other races. Still, she understands that they are some of the best metal craftsman and values their products. The village had to deal with raids from some of the more savage races and she has distrust for those races as well. These races include Ogres, Trolls, Orcs, and Goblins. In general, she is fairly easy going and can get along with most peoples and has not particular dislike for humans whom she was raised around. How fast they age is a bit bewildering to her with many of the children she knew growing up now having grand children of their own. Intellectually, she knows that this is simply the difference between Elves and humans but it is hard to understand in her heart.
Although skilled with the sword as well as with the bow, Delphine far prefers to engage the enemy with her long bow instead of at close range. Due to this, she carries two long bows with one unstrung so taht she will have a spare. She is far less likely to get injured as well as being able to retreat easier. A common tactic of hers is to ride towards her enemy while firing arrows and then turn to escape, trusting on the greater speed of her mount to escape before the opponent can get within sword or spear range. She has adventured with several knights who rode recklessly into melee combat with superior numbers and considers it to simply be stupid. She does want to collect a few magic items including an enchanted sword and a suit of enchanted chain mail. The magic item she most prizes is the Bow of Heim. While Delphine considers Heim to be her patroness, the holy bows are incredible in their own right and are extremely deadly. She considers it very important to protect the land and the forest which combines with a deep respect for wild animals although she does hunt carefully.
While in the field she dresses for the trail in rough clothing, she does have a feminine side and like to dress in gowns while not on the trail. She does like the company of others and has had lovers in the past although she does not believe in relationships outside of her race. She also has a strong love of music which manifests itself in both singing and playing the lute. It cannot be said that she is a professional but she does have a gift with both and has an extremely lovely voice.

Delphine can be considered in many ways to be a classic lady elf in appearance. She is extremely tall being over six feet in height with a slender figure although definitely feminine. She is very athletic in build, more a runner type build than a body builder although she is pretty strong. The young elf has long straight raven which hangs just below her shoulders when it is not covered. Blue highlights can be seen in her hair, showing just how dark her hair is. Her pointed ears can be seen through her hair, clearly showing her to be an elf. Likje most elves, she is extremely beautiful, especially in human eyes. Under black slanted eyebrows, bright green eyes can be seen which appear to sparkle with curiosity. She has a very classic face with a slender nose and angular cheeks. She has fairly pale skin but has a full mouth, breaking her from having the eerie beauty which some elves have.
While at home, she usually prefers to wear fairly simple green gowns which are cut for comfort but are also cut to show off her slender figure. When on the trail, she prefers chain mail, especially double mail, over other types of armor and wears a full suit of chain mail. Her double mail is perfectly fitted to her body to reduce loss of mobility. Over her mail, she usually wears a green cloth tunic and surcoat to reduce the noise of her armor. She also wears leather gloves over both of her arms with the fingers open for a better grip. She often carries a walking stick although she usually will drop it when entering combat to draw either her long bow or her two swords. Her long bow and a quiver of arrows are usually carried on her back while she is on foot. Her swords are on her sides in simple green leather scabbards with her long sword carried on her left side. While the weapons are extremely fine, the handles are rather plain so that they do not entice the interest of thieves. She wears good quality leather boots which come up to just below her knees.

Delphine's History:

Delphine was born the daughter of a female ranger named Aethelle Gwydian. She was considered extremely good at her job as a ranger and was able to become wealthy as a result of her skills and a bit of luck. She went on many adventures to exotic locations and acted as guide on many expeditions. She also has distant connections with several Elven noble houses from the times of the Old Kingdom which gave her a definite sense of pride. This allowed he to gain jobs for noble houses as well. These included both expeditions for nobility and hunting parties. Nobles often pay very well for jobs performed. She has mostly retired but will still lead an occasional hunting expedition.

Delphine's mother is very beautiful, a trait her daughter inherited from her. She is also charismatic and has always been able to attract the attention of men, especially male elves. Over the years, Delphine's mother has had a great many lovers. Some of them have been traveling companions while others have been nobles who hired her services as a guide. She has even had a few single night encounters at taverns and the like. As a result, the father of Delphine could be one of a number of males. He could be a noble or another ranger. There are a few more likely candidates but no-one really knows for sure.

When Delphine's mother found out that she was pregnant, she decided that she wanted to keep the child and was already considering settling down. Still, she had some unfinished business which had to take care of which put on her still on the trail when she should have been settled. Delphine came slightly before her mother expected and her mother was traveling alone when the time came for Delphine to be born and the whole event of birth was in the woods without any attendants. It could have been that her daughter was born earlier than expected or that she had conceived a bit earlier than she had though. Still, the infant girl was extremely heathy and the mother went through labor and birth surprisingly well. Within a few days, they were back on the trail.

The place which Delphine's mother had settled was a wilderness village in the Eastern Territory. The village earned most of their livelihood through the timber trade, especially in lumber to build the ships of the Eastern territory navy and trading fleets. Aethelle used part of her wealth to build a large manor house. Delphine's mother helped to train the militia which was the village's main line of defense. It was in this village and the wilderness around it that Delphine was raised. She had the same affinity for the wilderness as her mother and soon began learning the trade of being a ranger from her mother. Her mother always taught her to take care and not to abuse the forest because it could die if not managed properly. As might be expected, the village was attacked by raiders multiple times including from savage races such as Ogres and Orcs. Delphine was able to enhance her combat skills through the raids especially her skills with the long bow. There was always much love between mother and daughter and eventually they become more partners than anything else. The young girl was often told stories about the Elven Kingdoms from before the war with the Dwarves. While Delphine's mother was only a minor psychic, Delphine herself developed into a far more powerful psychic. Her talents fall into the ability to heal herself, to protect her mind from psychic attack, to sense both thoughts and strong emotions, to sense the presence of danger, and to be able to communicate with animals to a limited extent.

Like her mother before her, Delphine eventually got tired of the village and decided that she wanted to explore the world. While her mother was not able to equip Delphine with magic items, she was able to equip her daughter with some of the finest quality weapons including an Elven crafted long bow, Dwarven crafted armor, and a Dwarven crafted long sword. She was also given an extremely rare Elven Scout Horse which she acquired from a friend in Mirror Valley. The Elven breed is extremely fast and the elves of the valley are reluctant to part with their mounts to others. She first started working for individuals who her had done business with years previously although most of those who were human had long retired. While she has been unable to strike a good find yet, she has been cautiously gaining the skills needed and has been able to save a bit in the way of coins and jewelry. She has been able to find several attractive pieces of jewelry which appear to be of Elven origin which she has been able to keep. The only magic item which she has been able to acquire has been a gem of light. She supplements the income earned while adventuring by also collecting animal hides to sell although unlike many human hunters, she is careful never to take too many hides. She will also try and stop other hunters from over hunting game by confusing animal trails although she will not do anything to cause injury or to harm them.

She has been far more careful than her mother with romances although she has had her share as well. Her mother taught her well the tricking involved and how to protect herself from pregnancy. Her mother had become both indiscrete with her number of lovers and had stopped being as careful as she should be. Delphine does not want to have any serious binds with any of her lovers, just like her mother did previously.
