While young, he is still extremely intelligence and is extremely capable. He is extremely knowledgeable in areas of military history, especially with regards to ground battles. This has given him a good understanding of tank battles and combined arms which one who has never been a student of military history might not have. His study of the German General "Erwin Rommel" has given him the nickname of Rommel.
He is quite approachable by most of his men but many find him just a bit aloof. The mutant fox considers his men very important and will not put them in undue risk. Of course, as a soldier, there is always risk. Still, it is best to minimize that risk as much as possible. He has a sense of honor and keeps his word of honor. Unlike most Techno-Wizard Gun-Bunnies, he is not one to go guns blazing without thinking.
Of course as a techno-wizard, he has to be extremely careful with the Coalition and others who are against magic. He does not really hate the Coalition but knows that they are the enemy. Otherwise, his only real enemies are those of supernatural evil such as demons, vampires, and other such creatures. Often, people consider him to be a dog boy which more amuses him than anger him.

Rommel is a Fennec Fox, not a red fox. He has no human features with a long muzzle and has a black nose. His whole body is covered in soft fur with the basic color a tan with a creamy white chest and inside of his arms and legs. His ears are longer than most mutant animals such as dog boys and the inside of his ears are white with tufts. He has grey eyes which show extreme intelligence. His build is tall and extremely wiry being far from a body builder but not weak. He has a mostly human type body although he has a bushy tail.
Rommel usually dresses in fatigues and military style body armors, either simple green or camouflage. When not wearing a combat helmet, he usually wears a military style beret. On both his uniform and on his beret, he wears old military style tanker patches from pre-Rifts times especially late Twentieth century. He does not wear dress uniforms and prefers working uniforms.

While many people consider Rommel to be a dog boy, some sort of experiment out of the Coalition, but in reality he is from another world. The world he came from was virtually all mutant animals with only a sprinkling of humans left on the world. His species was likely pets before the destruction of civilization. In many ways, the world was similar to Rifts Earth in that it is a post apocalypse world and was physically similar to Earth before the coming of the Rifts. Some technology was lost in the collapse of the world. Unlike Rifts Earth, magic was not strong.
He came across to the Rifts World at a young age, maybe around fourteen years of age. It was the exact same spot where on his world he came from. In the Midwestern United States, he understood the language of the area with only relatively small differences between his English and American. Luckily, there was no Coalition presence and he was able to learn about the world before they found him. They might have treated him as a dog boy or they might have simply killed him.
Magic fascinated him and he decided to learn what he could about it. With techno-wizardry, he found that magic and technology could be combined. That fascinated him even more than just magic by itself and decided he wanted to learn the ways of techno-wizardry. He was able to find a techno-wizard who would teach him although unlike a lot of techno-wizards, he preferred ground vehicles over aircraft.
As time went on, he was able to acquire a number of books on tanks and military history. The tank became a special interest of him and he learned about a famous tank officer named Erwin Rommel. His nickname was "The Desert Fox" and the mutant Fennec fox acquired the name of "Rommel" from her companions. Even though nominally a "Techno-Wizard Gun Bunny," the fox never allowed himself to get into the scrapes which many do, never trusting to pure firepower to fight his way out. He made a very good commander even though relatively young and inexperienced.
He acquired a old M-60 tank which he was able to upgrade with techno-wizardry and a more powerful gun. He acted as tank commander with an Armorer acting as his gunner. He hires his tank and crew to causes which he considers to be just.
