Age: 32. Race: Human. Sex: Female.

Disposition:

She is a very flamboyant type, liking to dress in highly stylized clothing often from entertainment videos. She can also appear a bit on the reckless and flamboyant side with people. She does enjoy the company of men even though since the previous captain of the Queen of Swords died, she has not allowed herself to become close to anyone. She is loyal to a friend and will do almost anything for them. Still, no one should consider her not capable. Some of her tactics may appear reckless but there are normally extremely well thought out. She is an excellent tactician who has brought the Queen of Swords through a great many battles.

She only has a few hatreds and they all tie in with the Splugorth. She generally hates Splugorth and their minors but in a few cases her hatred goes further. The first is a hatred of taboo warrior types because of what they did to her. Any tattoo warrior needs to talk fast so that she does not kill them for what they represent. The second is the Sunaj. In addition to being tattooed assassins, they also were the ones who killed the previous captain and she takes that rather personally.

Appearance:

Lenorae appears to be a woman in her mid twenties but just something about her look makes her appear wiser than her years. She is relatively tall and is quite slender although she is still definitely female with very noticeable breasts. Her skin is of a light Caucasian tone. She has a slim nose but fairly wide lips. She has reddish blond hair which she wears in a long ponytail down below her waist. She has several strands free which halo her face as well. She has blue eyes which see to mirror the ocean which her ancestors had sailed on for so many years.

Usually the outfit is in light colors with white top and light blue leggings. Prefers to wear knee length leather boots. Otherwise, she might wear a more plain tunic and legging combination. Over the outfit, she will often wear an armored jacket styled to look an ancient naval uniform jacket including epaulets. In addition, she has a Mantle of Power she sometimes wears. Background:

Lenorae was born on one of the poorer worlds in the United Worlds Warlock which much of the magic taken for granted on most worlds in the stellar power do not exist. Compared to many of the worlds around it, magic was fairly low and there were few ley lines. As well, it was a comparative backwater and the technology was much below the norm for the U.W.W. Very little technology is above that of the Nineteen-Fifties on Earth and horses are still used in many areas.

Lenorae was born on a tiny farm that lived a precarious existence. Life was drudgery and her parents worked her like a slave. She had two other sisters and a single brother although she was the oldest. Luckily, it was mandatory that all children went to school. It was her only break from her toil and was the only place she ever was able to interact with technology. She was extremely bright and did quite well in school although her parents did everything they could indirectly to discourage her scholarly pursuits. They were quite happy in their ignorance and thought their children should be as well.

As one might expect, Lenorae always wanted to get off the planet and be able to take advantage of what was available elsewhere. She wanted to always learn about both technology and magic. She had learned much about the universe around her and wanted to explore it. As in the Consortium, the United Worlds Warlock does much of their best recruiting on fringe worlds. It seemed to her the best way to get an education, explore the universe, and earn a fortune. Of course what she thought was a fortune on her home planet was anything but.

Her interests propelled into the field of Techno-Wizardry, where magic and technology combine. While Techno-Smithies are better known in the United Worlds Warlock Military, they train both Techno-Smithies and more conventional Techno-Wizards. She opted to become a normal Techno-Wizard because it offered more flexibility. She was no longer the bright star of a mud ball planet but she still shined brightly.

In the fleet, she served with distinction and was promoted over that of most of her age. She was also able to take advantage of medical technology with anti-aging drugs although since she started later in life, they are not as effective as they would be otherwise. Still, it meant that unless something happened to her, she could look forward to over two centuries of life. It was at this time that she began to develop her dramatic flair. Stories tell that this is when she learned that she descended from ancient naval heroes including Horatio Nelson. Likely a psychic was able to read her past because her parents gave no clues.

She served for six years but after that time decided that she should go her own way. One issue is that unless you belong to a noble family or one of the military families, it is often hard to get promoted. There was plenty of work available and served as the executive officer on an independent destroyer which she augmented with techno-wizardry. It was an ancient Hunter class destroyer named the “Wraith Storm.” The ship acted as a privateer, attacking ships from both the Trans-Galactic Empire and against the Splugorth held territories. This was the time where she truly built the image which seemed to represent her.

Eventually, the destroyer attracted too much attention and was attacked by a fleet of Kittani vessels. Lenorae had warned the captain that it was likely a trap but he did not agree with her arguments and continued. The ambush was well planned and the destroyer was quickly wrecked by the combined fire. The attackers only bothered to take a handful of prisoners. Lenorae was one of those few. She was considered valuable as a techno-wizard and figured she would make a useful slave.

First they decided to see if they could break her. She was given to a group of taboo gladiators to do as they willed with her as long as she was not killed. Repeated rapes and beatings followed. Most people of lesser will would have broken and it tested her to the absolute limits of her will. As it was, her “owners” considered her too battered to move for several days and did not attempt. Her will was stronger that they thought. She literally crawled to a shuttle pad and stole one of their shuttles. Her Tele-Mechanics allowed her to get the password to unlock the Kittani shuttles controls and she was away.

Unfortunately pursuit was not far behind her. A whole squadron of Kittani fighters were sent after her. She was ready to suicide herself when a large ship suddenly appear as if by magic. It was by magic. The Dwarven Iron Ship had been stalking the area for several days. The captain decided to get involved and quickly blew the squadron of fighters away. She was soon rescued.

When she had recovered physically, she joined the crew of the vessel. The ship was called the “Queen of Swords” and worked as a privateer as well. It mostly went after Splugorth owned ships as well. Bigger and tougher, the Dwarven Iron Ship could go after targets that the destroyer she was executive officer on could not even dream of attacking. She started out as the navigation officer but became the executive officer of the ship when that officer decided to leave. From their booty came many of the unusual items she has including her firebolt pistols and magical cloak.

Lenorae absolutely adored captain Carlton Howe. He had been commander of the ship for dozens of years and looked to be around thirty but was actually nearing sixty. Some of her adoration for the captain was due to him rescuing her but there was more as well. It took her along time to recover mentally from the rapes but when she had, her and the captain became lovers. While in most cases such love affairs can be disruptive, somehow they managed to keep their affair from destroying the crew cohesion. In fact, most of the crew thought that the whole situation was pretty cute. It also allowed her to finally finish putting herself together completely.

The captain himself was not a techno-wizard but a retired Consortium officer. Still, the crew had over twenty techno-wizards onboard and a number of other practitioners of magic as well. She was able to learn a vast number of new spells from them and teach them a few that they did not know. It was at this time that she learned the spell “Preserver” which allowed her to freeze her aging completely. Even though the magic energy was massive, she would simply pull the magic energy from the ship when it was not needed.

The ship was a terror to the Splugorth, taking many prized and even destroying several of their warships. Then it happened. It was a nothing detail. The captain was working on negotiating with the leaders of a planet near Splugorth space. It was hoped that the planet could be used as a resupply port nearer to their targets than where they usually went. The planet had a Naruni representative and would have been perfect. Unfortunately, the Splugorth had massively bribed several of the key leaders and it was a trap. The Captain had taken a shuttle down to the planet. He was killed by a group of Sunaj assassins. One of the Captain’s guards lived long enough to contact the Queen of Swords and let them know what happened. Lenorae took command of the Queen of Swords and teleported a group of marines down to retrieve the Captain’s body.

At the same time a fleet appeared around the Red Queen. They had expected the ship to be paralyzed with the loss of the captain and did not expect the executive officers decisive actions. First, she fought her way free and made it look like she was about to jump away. In reality, she used the jump very carefully and jumped just a relatively short distance. It was enough to break contact and she came in from a completely unexpected direction. She managed to capture two of the warships completely by teleporting marines onboard. The Queen of Swords took serious damage but won the day. They had lost their captain though.

Lenorae tried to pass command over to another because she was still relatively new onboard. She was also grieving from the lost of her captain and lover. She was overwhelmed by virtually the entire crew shouting that they wanted her to be the new captain of the Queen of Swords. She reluctantly took command and looked in the captain’s safe. In it was a parchment letter written to her from the captain. It told her that this letter was incase anything happened to him. The letter also said that she had been being groomed to be the Queen of Swords’ new captain and that it was his will that the ship become hers upon his death.

She took command. The first step was to sell the prize vessels they had managed to capture and completely refit and upgrade the Queen of Swords. This massively increased the capabilities of the ship, getting it ready for war once more. The ship needed extensive repairs anyway after the battle with the Splugorth fleet.

When the Queen of Swords was ready for battle once again, she went back out searching for the Splugorth once more. Several of the new crew considered Captain Darkstone to be the Queen of Swords even though the ship was named that long before she even joined the crew. A lot of the old crew seem to have decided to play along as well.

This time she found an ally in an privateer captain known as Captain Talon. He is also in command of refitted Dwarven Iron Ships and is a True Atlantean. He has his own personal reasons for hating the Splugorth and often works to rescue slaves of the Splugorth.

They don’t always work together but they do often worth together against the Splugorth. Each one has saved the other in battle. Over time, they have become friends and allies. Something never clicked and they never became lovers. While not celibate, she did not want to get into another serious relationship for the moment. She helped Captain Talon with several of the rescue missions which he went on. There is some discussion of modifying the Queen of Swords in a similar manner to his ship with a protective lightning field.
