Kayne loves her father greatly. One should not think that there is nothing incestuous about the love between them however. Her father being overprotective of her is more entertaining to her than anything else. Many in similar circumstances might feel resentful but she just jokes about it. She does however considered herself a tough girl and able to take care of herself.
Does rebel against her father in a few ways. These include having an occasional relationship which he cannot quite approve of. Is always careful to protect herself from getting pregnant however. In addition, she will occasional drink a little but will not touch anything stronger. Likes to enjoy herself and have a good time. Otherwise, she is more social than her father is with a surprising number of friends.
While she is a skilled entertainer, she prefers to only work occasional work as an entertainer. This is normally when she is working on a liner or when the vessel she is on visits a station. Otherwise, it makes her not enjoying dancing and singing if she has to earn her credits in that manner.
In addition to her love of her father, she loves the feeling of space. It is hard to know if this is because of her father or if it is a natural part of her. In the end, it might not really matter. Kayne is an extremely competent spacer, in many ways just as well respected as her father is.
Over time, she had worked to find out what happened to her father. Through little things he has said and her own research, she has been able to find out what happened. Has tried to talk him about confronting what happened with some success. Has also tried to find out about her mother as well but with far less luck. Kayne’s drive to find out about her parents is to find out about herself.

Since she has been on anti-aging drugs since she was a child, she appears very young. By her biological clock she is actually seventeen, even though she is actually twenty-three years old. She cannot be considered “model” beautiful but is still quite attractive. She is pretty tall, at just over 1.7 meters and has a reasonably decent figure. She seems to have gotten her brown eyes from her father and has brown hair as well. She keeps it shoulder length in a slightly tousled look.
When aboard ship working, she normally wears practical ship jumpsuits. Often wears a skin suit as well. For additional protection, she does have a light armored jacket. Similar to her father, she often wears a work belt as well. Unlike her father though, she does like to dress up at times. Has a number of dressy outfit. In part, this is for when she does work as an entertainer but also likes to dress up for herself at times. Does have a few nice items of jewelry as well.

Kayne has no memories of her mother. After all, she was only a few weeks old when her mother died in a fight in a bar. Little is known about her other than the fact that she had been a drunk and drug user before she died. Appears to have hopped a number of ships until she wound up on the planet she died on. Jack Jones, Kayne’s father did not even know that he had a child until the authorities found him.
Mostly interested in simply passing responsibility to somebody else, the authorities ignored the fact that he was not a much better parent than her mother would have been and put the infant in his hands. Luckily, he was still the good man at heart that he had been before his downward spiral. It was a battle but somehow he was able to beat his own addiction, thoughts of his daughter helping him get clean of both alcohol and drugs.
Before becoming a addict, her father had once been a decorated Consortium fleet officer but had been forced to resign under a cloud. He still got a tiny stipend from the military but it would not be enough to support his daughter and himself except in the most wretched circumstances. Still, he knew his way around a starship and went back to what he knew in order to support them.
Most people in the Three Galaxies never leave their home planet, never even entering space. Even most who serve in the military only end up visiting a handful of worlds. In her childhood, Kayne visited more systems than the vast majority of people do in their lives. In addition, she has lost count of how many space ships she has been aboard. They include virtually all types from system cargo shuttle to large cargo ship. Has traveled and served on passenger liners and even salvage vessels.
He father often worked long hours in order to support her. Still, whatever time he had, he tried to spend with her. While she was growing up, it never felt like he was ignoring or abandoning her. Part of the time included trying to make sure that she was properly educated.
Luckily, there is reasonably good educational programs and tools available for the children of starship crews. There are a fair amount of children aboard starships due to the months and even years that they may spend away from home. A surprising number are not willing to leave their children while they may be gone for such long lengths of time. Her father’s education with the Consortium Academy helps further. As such, she got a surprisingly good education all things considered.
It is unknown if she would have naturally had a love of space or if she caught it from her father. Whatever the case, she does love space. She quickly picked up the skills of begin a spacer and became an asset to the vessels she worked on along with her father. In addition, it allowed them to earn more money than one of them could alone. Some of the skills she picked up were from him while she picked up other skills she learned from others among the crew of the ships they worked on.
As stated previously, Kayne and her father did spend some time aboard passengers liners although older vessels. While aboard these ships, she learned how to sing and how to dance. In fact, she found that she greatly enjoyed it and spend many long hours practicing both. In addition, she worked to learn acrobatics to further improve her dance routines. In some cases she has been able to get work on liners as an entertainer. Her father never really liked it and worries, considering it a bit of a mild rebellion against him.
While she has always loved her father, she has rebelled in minor ways against him. These including having a few relationships with people who he did not quite approve of. In addition, she will occasion consume just a little bit of alcohol, something that worried him. Since he had issues with addiction and so had her mother, there was always the worry that she could have the same issues. At least so far, she seems to not have had any problems.
As might be expected, even though she loved her father, she wanted to try living on her own for a while. She tried her had at being an entertainer planetside. Found an entertaining gig on a planet on the edge of Consortium. While they usually tended to take longer term positions, he found a job on a ship which would return to the system within a few months.
It was not long before she found that she missed both the company of her father and the life of being in space. In addition, she found that being a full time entertainer was far less fun than she thought it would be. It was not so much the work because being a spacer is a lot of work but she got tired of the pettiness of those around her as well as just feeling like one of the crowd. In addition, it made her stop enjoying dancing and singing.
When the ship that her father had taken a position aboard, they were both glad to be back together. It was after he returned that she decided she would go back to being a spacer and only work as an entertainer when they are aboard a liner or when they visit a space station.
As time has gone on. Kayne has tried to find out about her father’s past. While he does not like talking about it, she has been able to piece a little together from things he has said. In addition, she has been able to research further until she has been able to find much of what happened to him. With this, she has been trying to slowly get him to heal his feelings towards the military. As she sees it, it is not really the fault of the people who he once served with although will not tell her father that.
Unfortunately, she has had far less luck finding out about her mother. The planet where she was died, they do not keep very good records. In fact they did not even get a DNA sample of her mother before she was cremated. Kayne’s father has been as forthcoming as possible but knows very little himself.
Recently, Kayne and her father have been attempting to invest their earning in hope to eventually afford their own starships. The hope is that the ship could become a more permanent home and they would not be an the whim of other captains. While most have been reasonably decent, there have been a few that have been extremely hard to work for.
