Disposition:

Lord Drex is a very cunning and evil man that his only motivation is himself and his own enjoyment. Has no empathy for other people. He enjoys inflicting pain on others and dominate others completely. Even those under him need to watch out around him. Actually enjoys the torture of others and is known for having raped quite a number of women. Has destructive streak where if something is beyond his ability to dominate, he will try to destroy it.

When with a group, he can work with others although his companions better watch out. Eventually, he will turn on them if he can. One better be powerful enough that he fears them. His present companions, a Demon Thrall and a Dark Priestess he does fear. Does not stop them from being lovers although there is nothing of love in their relationships. He actually has no particular loyalties to them and does not particularly worship Mephisto even though he does pay lip service to the Demon Lord.

This does not mean that he is not extremely cunning and quite intelligent. He is not a genius but one should not underestimate his trickery. Still he lacks a certain amount of subtlety which has resulted in him getting caught. Has no sense of honor and anybody he makes a deal with needs to watch out. Surprisingly, he is not really lazy and is willing to work to achieve his goals. He is quite paranoid, expecting everybody to backstab him the same way that he backstabs them. Does not mean that he does not blame others for the perceived woes in his life. Because of his paranoid nature, he will almost never be without a weapon.

Appearance:

Lord Drex is a strongly build man that some have described as being darkly handsome. As well, he is quite tall at over six feet in height. Skin tone is relatively dark and one might expect that his family came from someone further south like the Land of South Winds. He has medium length brown-black hair and has well trimmed short beard of the same basic color. His eyes are penetrating brown.

Most of the time he wears his heavy plate armor. The armor makes him look quite menacing especially with his height. In the rare times he is not wearing his armor, he usually wears soft grey leathers. He will never be without a weapon due to his paranoia about others around him.

Lord Drex’s History:

Even the Western Empire will only take too much. Lord Drex was the youngest son of the Traymor house. This was a well establish noble family that was quite possibly on it way up. While considered to be a bit on the cruel side, they were consistent with their application of the rules and were consider at least fair.

Drex was trained in the ways of a knight since an early age and grew up ambitious, wanted to get his father’s title. His father had however designated his elder brother as heir to his title. Not that the older brother was considered nice but he lacked the wanton cruelty of his younger sibling.

Known from an early age for his cruelty, he had killed several servants and was known to enjoy torturing. Not long into his teens that he raped one of the servant women. Rumor was that he had killed another lesser noble and even tried to rape another nobleman’s daughter but was stopped in time.

Stories tell that his father was strongly considering banishing Drex. Wanting to avoid being banished, the younger brother decided to take things into his own hands. Found a group of bandits and persuaded them that they would be richly rewarded if they raided his families castle and murder his entire family. The plan was to leave one of the gates open so that they could enter the castle.

Of course, as soon as the deed was done, he backstabbed them and left them hanging. Put a massive price on their heads. Of course Drex pretended sadness but something seemed wrong with the whole situation. As a result, the house his father swore fealty to decide to investigate exactly what had happened. The house hired two wizards and a mind mage to investigate what had actually occurred.

It was not long until it was revealed what exactly had occurred and Lord Drex was arrested and convicted of murdering his family. All lands were forfeit and he was ordered to be put to death by the sword the next morning. That night while in prison, he was met by a Demon Thrall, also sometimes known as a witch, who called herself Sybelle Cartess Cartess. Offered to free him if he would serve her and her master, the Demon Lord Mephisto.

Of course he accepted her offer but she has always known that he would betray her if he thought he could. All that would keep him from doing so was fear of her and her demon lord. She does have many of the same appetites for pain and suffering as he does.

A path of death and destruction followed the two out of the castle with many of the guards being maimed and murdered. Part was the shear enjoyment but he also wanted to give a clear warning of what he would do to any who tried to follow him. Along with a large force of guards, the castle wizard tried to intercept them but unfortunately they were able to escape. A group of scouts tried to chase them down but the trail was soon lost.

As soon as it was clear that he had escaped, a massive bounty was put on his head and he was declared a wanted man. In fact, even though her own appearance is quite distinct, his own appearance was plastered on posters all over the Empire and even beyond there might be people after the bounty. As a result, she used enchanted makeup known as “miracle cream” to change his appearance so that he might not be recognized.

Since she has rescued the traitorous lord, the Demon Thrall has worked hard to keep him afraid of her. So far, she has seen no signs of disloyalty although she is constantly watchful for signs of it. Even so, it is interesting that they soon became lovers. Sybelle often leaves her lovers dead but for the moment he seems to be considered too valuable to her. As evil as she is, useful tools can be hard to come by.

Part of what keeps him so afraid of Sybelle is just how close she is to the Demon Lord. Every few months, she disappears for some time. She has told him that she goes to Lord Mephisto’s dark realm to serve him directly. Anybody so valued by a Demon Lord would result in revenge that he does not want to even consider. Of course, maybe if he allied with a Demon Lord who is an enemy of her dark master.

Some time later, a Dark Priestess also joined the group. Less interested in the pleasures of death and destruction, she serves the Demon Lord as the Demon Thrall and is just as loyal. While she is not as treasured by the Demon Lord, she has managed to instill fear in him especially after summoning a force of the dead. She also soon became the lover of both Sybelle and Lord Drex.

The trio has since traveled the lands, seeding death and destruction partially for the shear enjoyment of them but also in the service of Lord Mephisto. They identities are not well known because they usually kill those who could witness against them. Still, they are wanted in most of the lands of the Palladium world. Several knights who have had their families decimated by the trio have sworn to hunt them down. In addition, several paladins and other servants of light have sworn to stop them. Still, the trio seems to live and charmed like and there seem little likelihood of anybody catching up with them anytime soon.
