Dagger of Ryn’ash (Enchanted Dagger):
This is a large dagger, single bladed, approximately the size of a large Tanto knife. It however is not a true dagger but instead the claw of some kind of giant creature. It is glossy black. While some have thought that it was the claw of a dragon, it appears to not be the case. Instead it appears the claw of some long extinct creature. The handle is wrapped in the hide of some unknown creature but otherwise is carved from the claw itself.
Stories tell that the dagger was originally discovered in the Yin-Sloth Jungles and later found its way into the Western Empire. It is told that it was captured in a battle with a tribe although stories differ about the creatures involved. Some stories tell that the creatures were human while others have the tribe as being Orcs or even Grimbor. Even though the dagger is not considered particularly powerful, it is quite unusual.
Unlike many enchanted daggers, the Dagger of Ryn’ash in not particularly well balanced. It is still a perfectly serviceable weapon and quite effective. As well, the dagger is incredibly sharp, equal to that of the best Kobold made weapons.
As far as enchantments, the weapon appears to be indestructible. This is in spite of the fact that weapon appears to have some scratches on it. Most believe that these occurred prior to the weapon being enchanted. The other enchantment is that the weapon causes infectious wounds when it penetrates flesh.
Weight: 1.2 lbs (0.54 kg). Length: 1.5 feet (0.46 meters).
Bonuses Due to Quality: +3 to damage (included above).
Indestructible: Cannot be destroyed by any means except for possibly in the hands on an alchemist.
Infectious Wounds: All wounds caused by this weapon will not heal naturally. Failure to close these wounds by magical or psionic means will result in life-threatening infection to inflame the wound. This means the wound does not heal (no S.D.C./H.P. recovery) and the victim takes two additional points of damage for every wound inflicted, every 24 hours. Failure to heal these wounds completely with extraordinary means (magic or psionics) within three days results in a fever (reduce all combat bonuses by half and speed and skill performance by 20%) and +2D6 damage each subsequent 24 hours.
Cost: Would likely sell between 150,000 to 200,000 gold (Cost to make would be about 130,000 gold provided you could find a similar claw.)
