Tomlinson Industries ARES II FMG:

While the original ARES FMG was never produced in large numbers, it was still an interesting weapon and was copied by the Russians as the PP 90. The weapon was easy to conceal under clothing and could be pulled out and be made ready to fire in just two or three seconds with practice.

Due to the great many features of the weapon, the design was purchased by Tomlinson Industries and improved including the replacement of metal in many parts with high strength composites. The ARES II is slightly larger than the original to allow for the use of more powerful cartridges. The ARES II is available in 9 mm Parabellum like the original ARES but is also available in .22 SS-190 (5.7 x 28 mm - Designed for the FN P-90), .357 Sig, .40 S&W, 10 mm, and .45 ACP Cartridges.

One large change in the ARES II compared to the original ARES is the ability of the weapon to fire three round bursts. The ARES II has an ambidextrous switch on the side of top portion of the weapon. The weapon operates by simple blowback and fires at the same relatively slow rate of fire of 650 rounds per minute. The ARES II also differs from the original ARES due to having an integral carrying handle with a built in lasre targeting (Gives +3 to targeting)

In appearance, the ARES II FMG looks like a slim box with a handle when it is folded up. The ARES II FMG can be described as consisting of two shells. The first shell contains the barrel and bolt assembly. The second folds over the first and when unfolded acts as the weapons butt stock. The magazine is within the handgrip and is attached to the casing containing the barrel. It folds into the space between the two shells. There is a simple cocking handle below the weapon's muzzle. Both the hand grip and the second shell are composed of high strength plastics which allow the weapon to be about the same weight as the original ARES while being about 10% larger.

The weapon uses 22 and 35 round magazines in 9 mm. The weapon uses 18 and 30 round magazines in SS-190, .357 Sig, .40 Cal S&W, and 10 mm. The weapon uses 15 and 25 round magazines in .45 ACP. The smaller magazine of each caliber can be loaded into the gun while folded but the weapon cannon cannot be folded with the larger or the two magazines.
